Ferrari F40 V8 Engine
This twin-turbocharged 2936cc Ferrari Tipo F120D V8 was produced in 1992. The engine was reportedly built to production specifications but not assigned to a corresponding chassis, and retains a factory dyno-tested stock block, used crankshaft, bearings, used pistons. The package offered here includes the original block with custom steel cylinder liners, custom-machined and ported cylinder heads with larger valves, a titanium valvetrain, and customs cams. Intake manifolds have been ported and modified for larger injectors. This F40 V8 will be crate-delivered including custom intercoolers, custom-fabricated headers, Garrett turbos, spare pistons, factory exhaust manifolds, a rolling stand, and more.
In stock configuration the 90 V8 used two turbochargers running in parallel to produce an advertised 471 horsepower, with a 7750 rpm redline. These heads were machined and ported, and fitted with revised camshafts, larger valves, and a titanium valvetrain. Factory nikasil cylinder liners were replaced by custom-fabricated steel components. A modified intake system is also supplied. Used stock exhaust manifolds, heat shields, and IHI turbos are installed in the photo above.
A custom-fabricated exhaust system includes larger Garrett turbochargers and was designed to work in conjunction with the modified cylinder heads and intake. Charts showing increases in air flow and estimated power output will reportedly be included in documentation provided by the seller. Another set of used stock exhaust headers is included as pictured in the gallery and show some pipes crimped at the mounting flanges.
High-capacity Bell intercoolers were custom-designed to work in conjunction with the engine modifications above.
The factory tag lists the engines part number and Ferrari North America order number.
The block is stamped 30879, showing this to be a Tipo F120D engine. A collection of other stampings can be seen in the gallery below.
The engine is fully disassembled at present and will not be reassembled before shipment to the its owner. Two sets of pistons and a spare set of titanium connecting rods are included in the sale.
