The Cummins 6BTA 5.9 is a 158 horsepower, turbocharged, water-cooled diesel engine. It's a 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with a displacement of 5.9 liters (359 in) and a bore and stroke of 102 x 119 mm (4.02 x 4.72 in). It's turbocharged and aftercooled, and uses an inline injection pump.
The 6BTA 5.9 is the highest-producing 6-liter engine ever made, and is still manufactured in six countries. The 330 horsepower version of the 6BTA has a maximum rated RPM of 2800, and the 370 horsepower version is rated at 3000.
The 6BTA 5.9 burns about 16.5 gallons per hour at full rated output. If propped correctly and run at a typical 70% cruise speed load, it should burn about 24 gallons per hour total at cruise.
